These are “these” days of the month. How do you talk about them? Are you on your “difficult” days? Are you “in the mood”? Are you on your period? It’s very likely, like most of us, that you grew up believing that your period is something you need to hide, maybe something dirty, something you should be ashamed of. And even more likely, in modern “productive” societies, that on these days you need to continue to be alert, productive, strong, ………. - fill in the blank -, like all the other days of the month.
But what would it be like to recognize and honor your circle? To connect with your nature? To connect with your power? The power that arises precisely from the existence of this circle?
On a physical level, blood comes from your uterus, which cleanses itself and renews itself in each cycle, in case the egg is not fertilized. And each cycle means renewal, rebirth, creation of life. New life can arise, if you choose to, which is your right, and so on average, your period lasts 3500 days of your life. Isn't that too many to call difficult - let alone "hide" them out of taboo or shame?
During your period, you become more introverted on a physical and energetic level. Your body wants to slow down and you are in a strong mood to connect with your "inner self." When this is not covered or expressed, you may become irritable. Your needs are therefore different.
How about taking a little more care of your body and your emotions these days, honoring your cycle? Even if it's just a few minutes during the day, you can find them and dedicate them to you. It can be a few breaths in a space and time exclusively yours.. A quiet relaxing bath. A favorite drink that is beneficial for the body. Or, at least, putting your feet up on the couch.
On your next period, try the following yoga practice along with whatever else you do to take care of your body and feel the connection to your creative energy :
To begin, find a quiet place where you can be, without noise or interruptions that will interrupt the process. It will take five minutes or more, depending on your daily routine. Dim the lights and, if you want, put on some relaxing music.
You can choose a comfortable sitting position or lie down in any of the following positions that suits you.




Bring your palms together at the heart center - energetically the location is at the center of the chest - and take a few conscious breaths here. Fill from the pelvis to the head with the inhalation and empty the opposite way with the exhalation.
Once you feel present here, lower your fingers down, forming a triangle between your thumbs and index fingers that are joined. The remaining three fingers next to the index fingers remain joined. Place your palms in this shape below your navel, so that the triangle points towards your sacrum. Stay here, breathing consciously. Feel the contact. Breathe into your uterus and the rest of your reproductive organs. If you are on your period, send your breath into your blood as well.

When it is enough for you, bring your palms back to the heart center, breathe here with gratitude for what you Are , for the time and space you have given to honor it.
